The Holden of Hollywood by Author Phil Brody

Here's a little bit about the book:

“Hollywood died on me as soon as I got here. Welles said that, not me, but damn if he didn’t nail it, you know?”
Sam Bateman came to Hollywood to settle a score, but amidst the sunny and 75, his plans went astray. Everything changed the day he drank in the intoxicating legend of Meyer Holden, the greatest screenwriter Hollywood has ever known, the one who pulled a Salinger and walked away. Holden now tacks pseudonyms onto his works and buries them in the bottomless sea of spec that is Hollywood’s development process. They’re out there for anyone to find—but at what cost? In his quest, Bateman severs all ties and sinks into a maddening world of bad writing and flawed screenplays. Paranoid and obsessive, the belligerent savant encounters an eccentric cast of characters—each with an agenda—in his search for the one writer in Hollywood who does not want to be found.
Phil Brody’s The Holden Age of Hollywood is at once a detective novel, an unexpected love story, and a provocative exposé of a broken industry. With dark humor and incisive commentary, the novel immerses readers in a neo-noir quest to attain the Hollywood dream, integrity intact.
Reviews have been rolling in and here's what the critics have to say:
The Holden Age of Hollywood by Phil Brody delivers the premise and promise of its title. It is an original, rollicking, picaresque novel that would make J.D. Salinger proud.”
Stan Corwin, former publisher/CEO of Pinnacle Books, author of Betty Page Confidential and Oxy-Morons I Have Known
“Brody’s debut novel has an ambitious agenda. It’s a coming-of-age novel, a mystery, a love story, and a stinging, knowing send-up of the movie biz. Brody melds these disparate elements with energy, wit, snarky insider dialogue, and a clipped, telegraphic narrative style. . . The Holden Age of Hollywood is fine entertainment."
~
 Thomas Gaughan, Booklist (May 1, 2012)
“As the sun came up today, I turned the last page of Phil Brody’s The Holden Age of Hollywood. That’s because I couldn’t put it down. I can rarely make time for novels, but this one had me rifling through pages with constant anticipation. The back drop of this story is the same backdrop I live and work in. Hollywood. With all its fast-talkers, posers, and users, Brody weaves a tale through all the madness that is Hollywood with a voice of reason, integrity, and hilarious sarcasm. . . I have rarely been this entertained, while being informed, all from reading the same book."
Doug Jones, Actor, Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy I and II, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
“If anyone knows Hollywood, author Phil Brody knows Hollywood. The Holden Age of Hollywood is a cynical and witty look at the real town . . . exposing the often underappreciated business of screenwriting, all while unfolding an unexpected love story. . . .”
Jessica Druck, The Five-Stir
“Readers will enjoy watching a fascinating Bateman get sucked into the Hollywood drama machine. Filled with a quirky cast working humorous scenes, this is a fascinating character study as Bateman goes the extraordinary extra kilometer to find a Holden screenplay.”
~ Harriet Klausner, Genre Go Round Reviews  (June 18, 2012)

She is determined to find out how she ended up there & why, but when the only person who can help her, continuously lies to her, she finds herself forced to suffer alone. She can't ignore the strange things that begin to happen to her nor can she hide from the nightmares that haunt her sleep. Adan’s mission to find Sara has finally approached -
 It seemed simple: bring her back to the enchanted world that lives, breathes and survives because of her, but he quickly finds himself faced with an entirely new challenge. Immediately, Adan realizes that staying unknown to Sara is a task he will fail before even attempting. The pull to her is far too strong to refuse, and being with her will defy the very reason he existed. He was the key to her survival and loving her was not part of the plan that he had been born to follow. Can he find it in himself too resist the urge to be with her and follow through with their destiny or will he destroy everything that had been left to Sara to protect and defend -
And the kingdom she is unaware she rules…

Flutter
As Sara and Adan struggle to overcome their own separate battles -
There is a far more determined evil that is stalking the shadows and waiting to annihilate them both.
Sara will figure out that not everything is what it seems and knowing what she can and can not trust will be the key to finding out the truth to what happened to her, the reason why she had been buried alive and who she really is…

Sara and Adan will discover the hidden meaning to why she was the reason he existed and why he would be the reason she survived & together they will fight to change the rules and rewrite their fate.

Author Georgina Merry

~~~How my Love of Writing Began~~~
I wrote my first story when I was six. It was about a little girl who encounters the ghost of another girl. I folded the paper to make it look like a book & ensured it was fully illustrated. My Mum suggested I take it into school for my teacher to read. I had no friends at primary school, I was a little too different for the others to accept me. I suppose the tea
cher saw my potential, or perhaps she was just kind hearted. Either way, she was the only one I spoke to. She was so impressed with my wee story that she read it aloud to the class, kindly ignoring my spelling errors. It was well received by my classmates, those who wanted nothing to do with me. It was to be the beginning of my journey into writing. It is a moment in my life that I will always remember.
 Georgina's debut book: The Ferryman's Wife
A spoilt heiress is propelled into a dark world of lost souls where she is taken prisoner by powerful being known only as The Ferryman. Lady Madeline Farrington has what most girls want: money, beauty and a string of handsome and wealthy admirers. From a young age she's had everything she asked for. Getting what she wants has become an expectation. At sixteen both her and her cousin are of age, and are welcomed into adult society at The Duke of Angledin's ball. There she meets the mysterious and enigmatic Laurie de Bufort. She decides that she wants him too, even if it means hurting her cousin and best friend, Celia. But Madeline is about to learn that having everything you want can be dangerous, and that knowing Laurie de Bufort comes at a terrible price...
You can preview chapters 1-3 on her blog.Warning you will be hooked the minute you start reading it! I will have my review up tonight or tomorrow so check back for my comments and thoughts on this captivating story!
The YA Sisterhood: Match 28: Dimitri (3) vs. Daemon (11)
Yes,I have fictional crushes.And thanks to The YA Sisterhood's YA Crush Tourney 2.0 I get to vote for one of my crushes.I just discovered Vampire Academy a few weeks ago.With 6 books in the series,I am half way through the last book.I love Jace from TMI series but  I have fallen for Dimitri now.I don't know which one I love more but I think I will be in trouble if they put both them against each other in the Crush Tourney! As of now that is not the case. Dimitri is up against Daemon and since I haven't read Obsidian yet I can't say much about Daemon.However,I can say much about Dimitri.At St. Vladimir Academy the student refer to him as a god because he is a legend when it comes to killing Strigoi(undead evil vampires).He believes strongly in doing what is right and standing up for what you believe in.He is hot,strong,determined,yet gentle and loving when it comes to Rose.Follow the link below for more on both guys and to vote.
