About the Author:
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Review:

Rachel does Mafia like noone else! I love the Eagle Elite series and just when I think I have a favorite couple, bam she hits me with another epic story of danger, forbidden love, unexpected twists, family secrets you never saw coming, and two people drawn to each other so much they are willing to sacrifice almost anything for that love!
Renee is looking forward to going to college and leaving her terrifying job as the babysitter for the mafia behind. But the one person who scares her the most also captivates her interest when they are thrown together after things get dangerous and lives are being threatened. Vic is the family bodyguard who has sworn to protecting the family above all else but he never counted on falling for the babysitter. What starts out as a one time thing turns into something neither saw coming. Now they may both lose their lives if they can't find a way to let go or convince the family to promit their relationship. And the ending is an edge of your seat action packed, heart racing scene that will take you by surprise, but expect nothing less from Rachel and her Eagle Elite books! Blood In,No Out!

EXCERPT: I tried not to judge. It was hard. They were mafia bosses—I got it. Or at least I thought I understood it since I had grown up around it. But my upbringing wasn’t as severe. My dad was a Nicolasi and always kept things quiet around us. It wasn’t until I was twelve that I realized it wasn’t normal for us to make as much money as we did through two jewelry stores and five laundromats. I wrongly assumed that every business owner with a lot of cash drove a bulletproof Mercedes to protect their family. The older I got, the more horrified I became of the life my father lived, the life he forced us to live, and the complete unrest I felt every time I closed my eyes and prayed for him to come home. He was a made man. One of the best in the family, which meant Phoenix trusted him, which in turn meant he trusted me to watch his little boy. And every time Phoenix looked at his phone I wondered if it was my dad texting, if he was alive, if he was okay. He’d been gone for a month. We hadn’t heard from him except for a few “hey, I’m alive” texts. I hated this life. And I wanted out. “Renee.” Nixon leaned down and touched my shoulder. “Are you okay?” I stilled. Remembered not to look directly into his eyes and forced a smile. “I’m just tired, you know how it is.” “Kids do that to a person,” Phoenix piped in, finally sheathing the knives he’d apparently pulled out in the last few seconds that I’d been thinking about my dad. “We need to leave in five.” Nixon stood. I looked away. I had to. It made me sick to my stomach the blood these men had on their hands and the way they so casually talked about killing as if they were discussing the latest episode of This Is Us. I forced a smile at Serena and Junior just as the front door swung open, nearly coming off its hinges. There he stood. My nightmare. Vic Corazon Abandonato. In all his gory glory. Tight black pants. Tight black shirt. Enough guns strapped to him to win an all-out war. And no smile. The man never smiled. It wasn’t in his makeup to smile. The one time he smiled was at Chase, and I think it was just a happy accident because Chase looked as shocked as the rest of the group did. I glanced away, again making sure I wasn’t drawing attention to myself, and fed the kids. Vic was a silent killer. I imagined that people didn’t even know they were dying until they saw the blood running like a river from their chests. I shivered. That’s what assassins for the mafia did. They weren’t made men, they weren’t in line for boss. They did the dirty work-and they took the fall for it. They had one job. Protect the family at all costs.

Review of Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

uthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.

When his friend inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn…

Review:

Great dystopian story mixed with the battle over who controls what the people read vrs those who would like to choose for themselves. This was actually the first audiobook I've listened to in ages and while it took a few chapters to get use to the voice, it grew on me as the story did. It's a very interesting, suspenseful story that's riddled with adventure, love, unexpected friendships, conspiracy, coming of age,and decisions that could save you and those you care about or destroy you and all those around you.
In a world where the Library is sacred and controls almost everything, including what's acceptable to read and whose aloud to posses or own books, one boy's journey takes him into the heart of the Library. But he holds secrets about his family that, if discovered could get him killed but he isn't the only one harboring secrets and the higher ups will use their power to stop anyone with an idea that could change the way their society operates, preservation of power in the rawest form, even going as far as using a battle against two countries to achieve their goals so they don't have to dirty their hands. However, a few brave scholars will thrive to make things right and fair, even if it costs their lives or worse their hearts.

Like all citizens since the Ruining, Carrington Hale knows the importance of this day. Ripped from her family, she’ll spend her days serving as a Lint, the lowest level of society. She knows it’s her duty to follow the true way of the Authority.

Then Carrington is offered an unprecedented chance at the life she’s always dreamed of, but she can’t shake the feeling that it may be an illusion. With a killer targeting Lints and corruption threatening the highest levels of the Authority, Carrington must uncover the truth before it destroys her.

Review:
Such a great inspirational and meaningful story.  It's filled with little truths that the people have forgotten over time as we tend to do ourselves. It's a good reminder of who we really are in Christ! I love how she weaved some of the elements from her dad's(Ted Dekker) Circle Series. I was hooked from the very beginning and hung on til the very end! Can't wait to start Book 2 The Calling. I rarely listen to audiobooks but this one kept my attention. I totally recommend this book!
