Exclusive Excerpt:

I stand completely still and close my eyes as my life, my world, flashes before me. My blood turns to ice, and my breath hitches at the end of the increased ragged inhale. Trembling hands clasp in front of my stomach as my body rocks slightly. Dread, the feeling I was momentarily keeping at bay, returns in full-force. I’m in a void of nothingness that constricts my entire being. Opening my eyes, I flinch and stumble as the overly bright fluorescent lighting blinds me. I struggle to inhale as my body becomes weightless, and everything turns black.

Welcome to the Blog Blitz & Giveaway for Handmade Hearts by June McCrary Jacobs, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
ABOUT THE BOOK

Handmade Hearts Cover.jpg Title: Handmade Hearts
Author: June McCrary Jacobs
Publisher: JMJ Story Stitcher Books
Release Date: December 18, 2018
Genre: Historical Romance

'Handmade Hearts' is an historical romance short story set in New Orleans during World War II and was inspired by a true story.

Toward the end of his life, the author asked her Uncle 'Allen' how he met his wife. He shared about how he met 'Irene' at a church social in their neighborhood in New Orleans in the early 1940s. He had been seriously wounded in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific as a young Marine and was using crutches to get around as best he could.

He had many inner wounds which needed time to heal, too. He had no way of knowing when they first met that Irene had suffered her own wartime tragedy. She bravely sought to keep her grief locked away deep inside because thinking about her loss caused her even more sorrow. She needed to be strong because she was the breadwinner for her small family.

Times were tough, but these two unique individuals made it through each day with inner fortitude, determination, and the sincere hope of something greater just over the horizon.

This inspirational short story follows the growth of Allen and Irene's relationship beginning with their chance meeting and leading forward to a lifetime spent together. 'Handmade Hearts' was created to honor this unique couple's love for and devotion to each other in a relationship which spanned seven decades.

Analiese Rising by Brenda Drake

Analiese Rising
by Brenda Drake
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: January 8th 2019
Entangled Teen

Summary:

When a stranger gives Analiese Jordan a list of names before he dies, the last thing she expects to see is her own on it. Not. Cool. Her search for answers leads to the man’s grandson, Marek, who has dangerous secrets of his own. Both are determined to unlock the mystery of the list.

But the truth is deadly. Analiese is a descendant of the God of Death, known as a Riser, with the power to raise the dead and control them. Finding out she has hidden powers? Cool. Finding out she turns corpses into killers? No, thank you.

Now the trail plants her and Marek in the middle of a war between gods who apparently want to raise an army of the Risen, and Analiese must figure out how to save the world—from herself.
Review:
Although I don't believe in gods, told about in different culture mythology, I'm definitely intrigued when coming to read about them. I got that's why they call it fantasy, you can enjoy reading about certain things without having to believe in them. I actually find mythical creatures and gods fascinating. However, if I woke up tomorrow and found out my ancestor was the God of Death I'd probably write ancestry.com and ask if they could give me a fake geology test that said otherwise. But Analiese doesn't have that choice and she must find her courage, strength and wisdom to defend herself and the world from evil gods hell bent on raising the Army of the dead*key in my memories of watching The Mummy one too many times because it was my son's favorite movie as a child*(or in this case Army of the Risen).

About the Author
Brenda Drake grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother's animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. With kids of all ages populating Brenda's world, it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical for both younger readers and the young at heart. And because she married her prince charming, there's always a romance warming the pages. Her favorite books are The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Kings Row by Henry Bellamann, and Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. When she's not writing, she hosts workshops and contests for writers such as Pitch Wars and Pitch Madness on her blog, and holds Twitter pitch parties on the hashtag, #PitMad. In her free time, Brenda enjoys hanging out with her family, haunting libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or just reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).

About A.K. Evans:

A.K. Evans is a married mother of two boys residing in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lafayette College in 2004 with two degrees (one in English and one in Economics & Business), she pursued a career in the insurance and financial services industry. Not long after, Evans realized the career was not for her. She went on to manage her husband’s performance automotive business and drive the shop race cars for the next thirteen years. While the business afforded her freedoms she wouldn’t necessarily have had in a typical 9-5 job, after eleven years she was no longer receiving personal fulfillment from her chosen career path. Following many discussions, lots of thought, and tons of encouragement, Andrea decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Between her day job, writing, and homeschooling her two boys, Evans is left with very little free time. When she finds scraps of spare time, Evans enjoys reading, doing yoga, watching NY Rangers hockey, dancing, and vacationing with her family. Andrea, her husband, and her children are currently working on taking road trips to visit all 50 states (though, Alaska and Hawaii might require flights).

ABOUT THE BOOKS

The End Begins - final cover Title: The End Begins (Seven Trilogy #1)
Author: Sara Davison
Publisher: Ashberry Lane/WhiteFire Publishing
Genre: Romantic Suspense

One of them is a prisoner and one of them is free. The same one.

Bookstore owner Meryn O’Reilly and Army Captain Jesse Christensen are on opposite sides of a battle. When martial law is declared, Jesse and his platoon are sent to Meryn’s city to keep an eye on the Christians and make sure they are not stepping outside of the confines of the law.

Fiery and quick-tempered, Meryn chafes under the curfew and other restrictions to her freedom. Jesse is equally amused, intrigued, and terrified by her spirit, knowing she could find herself in prison if she shows defiance to the wrong soldier.

His worst fears are realized when she commits a crime he cannot protect her from. Now they both face an uncertain future, and the very real threat of losing everything, including their lives. With time running out, Jesse works feverishly to convince the authorities to show leniency to Meryn. And to convince her that love can overcome any barrier that lies between them.
Review: This book caught my attention from the first page and held it to the very ebd! I immediately had to jump into book 2 because I needed to know more! As a Christian this is always something at the back of my mind that could happen, so reading about drew my interest deeply. I enjoyed seeing the interaction between Meryn and Jesse as they try to hold on to what they think is the right thing to do while contending with what's happening in their hearts.

Rating:🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Review:
I didn't realize this book was book 2 in the series but the story flowed well enough on its own that I didn't feel like I was lost without book 1. However, after reading Shelter of the Most High I plan to go back and read the first book. Biblical Historical books I've read before were usually about characters we find in the Bible, so this was a fresh new perspective on the subject for me. There was plenty enough action to keep me glued to the pages and praying all the main characters made it through their trails and tribulations they face while being in the city of refuge.
