Crazy Week Update

   Sorry post have been a little sporadic lately.Things have been hectic lately.My son had a virus(for four days!),my internet connection was acting up(still is every now and then,ugh!),and trying get kids ready for school(taking a picky teen girl to try find school uniforms is not fun).Plus sneaking in a little reading time.Last week we had the Colorado Massacre.Such a tragedy,especially in Colorado.I mean with Columbine that happened there,they surely didn't need another shooting incident.Plus the fires that have plagued the near by area,that poor state needs some good news for a change.I lived in Colorado Springs/Ft.Carson area for year,which is not far from Aurora,Co.It is a beautiful area to visit but their tourism may suffer due to these negative circumstances,but I hope not.
  Another problem we encountered last week was an unethical attack against book bloggers,especially YA book bloggers by self-published author Carroll Bryant.He made many bloggers look bad and actually made some scared for their safety.The post he made on Goodreads,which has since been removed,was on the brink of falling into the bullying category;of course in my opinion it was bullying.More details on this indecent and how to protect yourself against such threats see here: http://www.hippiesbeautyandbooksohmy.com/2012/07/protecting-yourself-from-internet.html

 Since this occurrence many bloggers have safeguarded themselves by opting out of reviewing Indie Authors.While I respect their decision,I can not follow it.I LOVE MY INDIE AUTHORS! They are some of the kindest and most interesting people I have met.I will however,be picky in my dealings with Indie Authors that I have not met yet or are unknown to my other Indie Author friends and blog friends.

  My recent finished reads are:The Vampire Hunter's Daughter Part I by Jennifer Malone Wright,Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead,Immortal Hearts by Ellen Schreiber and part of Trust~Book 2 of Believe (because it is only partly finished and given a peek to a small number of readers from the author).I will post more review when I catch up with the reviews I have promised my Indie Authors. I am currently reading Shadow Kisses(Vampire Academy Book 2) by Richelle Mead,Insurgent by Veronica Roth,The Sounding by Carrie Salo,and Crossroads by Mary Ting.And that is only the beginning of my TBR list I need to conquer before mid August.

# In Remeberance of Colorado Tragedy and the Merciful Hand of God #

In the wake of the tragedy that happened in Colorado just alittle over 24hrs ago,I would like to pass on a beautifully written inspiring blog of one of the people in the theater that night.

(Maybe, just maybe God spared my life because He loves YOU and wants you to hear this..He wants you to believe that He loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son that if you would believe in Him you would have eternal life.)

Just,Me,Myself and I was nominated by The Writing World for the Versatile Blogger award! Thanks it feel great to be acknowledged,especially by other bloggers!

This lofty-sounding award is basically a mutual admiration society where bloggers recognize their peers for writing quality blogs that touched them in some way. The VBAs honor the blogger rather than specific posts. It’s a chance for bloggers to pat themselves on the back like the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences does with the Oscars. Until someone starts giving out Blogscars, the VBAs will have to suffice.

1~I am in love with Channing Tatum, Ian Somerhalder,and yes a fictional character: Jace from TMI Series.I enjoy having friends who love these guys too and our favorite past time,besides reading is to argue who gets them.Yea,yea I know these guys are way out of my league but a can dream,can't she?

2~I am a single of two bright children.My oldest is a girl who is 15,and let me tell you I can't wait til the high school year are over;girls have too much drama.My youngest is a boy who is 12.They are both very smart but have a hard time in school because of ADHD.

3~I begin my student teaching for Special Ed. certification this August! I am excited an nervous.I have dreamed of being a teacher since I was a little girl and now I am close to reaching that dream.I pray God bring me through this last challenge with confidently and professionalism.

4~I have an illness called Fibromyalgia.I was diagnosed 10 years ago and it has been a struggle.The last year and half have been the worst.But I pray for healing and am determined to persevere throw this. 

5~I am active in my church and love God.I want to be the person He created me to be.I hope to one day travel to different countries helping women and children,educating others,and bring the the Love and Word of God to people!

6~My obsessions are reading/books(I know kind of obvious),music,shopping,clothes, jewelry,and art.I have a tendency to sometimes be an impulse buyer when it comes to these obsessions.My OCD tendencies is making sure the doors are locked(usually more than once),rinsing any dish or utensil before using them(even at other people's house),I have to cut my tags out my shirts so they win't bither me,and books have to be even and in order on bookshelves(if I go in bookstore and books are out of place,it drives me crazy, occasionally can't help myself and I put them where they are suppose to go.

7~I have an identical twin.I weighed 1lb 12oz at birth because my umbilical cord was damaged.This caused me to be developmentally delayed plus I have a birthmark under my eyelid til I was 3 which cause me to be legally blind in one eye.I hated reading when I was younger because of this.I started to like reading in middle school but fell in love with reading late in high school.I did not do well in school until I went back to school 10years after I graduated.Now I have a 3.o GPA and am in the KDP Education Honor Society!

Review of Any Love But Mine by Debbie Davies

Any Love but Mine is a must read book! The author does a great job at keeping the main character, Acacia, as well as the reader guessing what is really happening behind the scenes of her life. What are her “sisters” keeping from her? Since she “came into existence” Acacia has been kept in the dark about what happened before she was created and how does it affect her. She is guided by Allana, who is the oldest of the three “sisters”.Allana acts as her trainer and a mother figure. She trains Acacia to help mortals fall in love. Her other “sister”,Amora, just seems angry at Acacia and does what she can to make her life miserable. As fate would have it, Acacia is the third wife created for Eros, “God of Love”. However, Eros is not satisfied with any of them, all he wants is his true love, who he can’t have because she is a mortal and is already married. Eros has begged Zeus and Hades to cut her husband’s life line so he will die and Eros can finally be with his true love. Since they have refused Eros has done many things to make others just as miserable as he is. One of those things is sending the three women, who he rejected, to the mortal world to make people fall in love. One catch, they are still his property and are forbidden to love or be with another man. Acacia knows Eros has given Zeus only a year to find a way to give him what he wants or his going to cause mass destruction on the mortals. She is just existing and doing her job as she acts as a high school student, secret goddess of love and match maker. Minding her own business and looking for people with matching auras that she can bring together, she comes upon a boy with no aura. Struck by this discovery and the feelings that take over her body when she catches his eye, she is determined to find out who he is. Allana and Amora , seem to be of little help in this matter. They keep giving her mixed advice.She knows they are keeping something from her. She decides to go against their advice and pursue this investigation of who and what this boy is and what he is doing in the mortal world. She keeps changing her mind as to what she believes he is every time evidence of what she thought gets washed away by his action or her “sisters’” actions. What she doesn’t bank on, is falling in love with him. This causes mass chaos for all three girls and this boy, Josh. Acacia must decide if falling in love with Josh is worth the consequences. The worst that could happen is that she will be killed. Her decision brings about more chaos and unforeseen events. Now she must do the best she can to accept those consequences and make the best of it or find a loophole in those consequences. Will she succeed? Will she finally get answers to all her questions?
   What I like about this book is that it leans towards a different mythical side of the fantasy genre than many YA books .It breeches the subject of Greek gods and goddesses and adds a new perspective to Greek mythology. It also adds a new take on the roles of other mythical creatures.
The book is suspenseful and keeps you guessing but most of the evidence is presented and could probably put together by the reader before Acacia figures it out. While Acacia is still confused and questioning who Josh is, to the reader it is obvious. This kind of irritated me because the evidence is staring her in the face. But it does leave it open for another book.

Review of Back to You by Anne Brewer

   It took me a few chapters to get into the book.Once I did I couldn't put it down!It was an enjoyable read.I had a little trouble with the mild language used but after I thought about it,most people do use that kind of language in their everyday life.However,I did think at some points the conversation the daughters and parents had a little too much mild language.This is just my opinion based on my upbringing.I did like the way the mother and Abby connected.I found this story be easy for people to connect with.It has a lot things that many people deal with in this day and age.I found that it mirrored some of the circumstances my teenager daughter and I deal with or have dealt with.It also shows that we can overcome problems and circumstances in our life.Also shows how forgiveness is a big part of moving on in life and how it can lead to happiness.I really think the author has a great talent in writing stories and am looking forward to her next book.
   In Back to You,Abby is torn between her feelings for her boyfriend,Brady,and her best friend,Lucas.She has been with Brady for a while but he doesn't always support her dreams.Abby isn't sure if she can see a future with Brady.However,Lucas has always supported her dreams and even helped her through the rough time she had after her dad abandoned her mother,her sister,and her.Abby's sister,Sarah has her own problems to deal with.She is just coming into the teen life and is headed in the wrong direction.She keeps getting in trouble,which makes everyone miserable at home,and nothing her mom does seems to help.Sarah decides she has a solution to her problems.But her solution will throw a wrench in everyone's' already chaotic life.Abby wants to turn to the one person who has always helped her through hard times,Lucas.But can Abby and Lucas let go their past problems and move on or will it destroy them both?

I do use the cover to help me decided if I want to read a book but it is the description of the book that helps me make my final decision.I know you can't judge a book by its cover but a pretty or creative cover is inviting.

Review of Haunted Moon by K.B.Miller

I really enjoyed Haunted Moon. I usually do not read books that are mostly about witches but Kymberlee Burks-Millers really made it an intriguing read. It was an easy read and the story flowed well. It kept my attention and had wanting to know what was going to happen next. I can't wait to read the next book to see how the story progresses.
Leeny Moon is about to be initiated as a full fledge witch. Her mother brings her out one evening to start her training. Leeny knew that as a witch it was her job to kill vampires in order to protect the world from their mindless bloodthirsty habits. But seeing her mother kill one sent Leeny into shock and turned her off from wanting to be a witch. This leaves her mother and younger sister upset with her. She must find a way to come to terms with her inherited gift as a witch because the witches in her town have started to disappear. And even stranger is that now the children of the witches, who have yet to be initiated into the coven, have been targeted by a group of vampires. Will Leeny be able to accept who she was born to be? Will her mother and sister forgive her for offending them by saying she did not want to be a witch and kill vampires?Can she get past the horror of watching her mother kill a vampire in order to be able defend herself and her family from the vampires that are stalking the local witches?

Lily Crussell's Bio:

Lily Crussell is a (currently) unpublished author of young adult paranormal romance and fantasy novels. Hailing from Buckinghamshire in England, she lives in a market town. When she isn't writing, she works full time in retail, something she is desperate to give up.Writing since her early teens, Lily doesn't see writing as a career choice, more an obsession that won't let her rest until her muses are sated. She has been known to lock herself in toilet cubicles at work, scribbling madly on scraps of paper to ensure ideas aren't lost whilst serving customers. Lily previously considered careers in Anthropology and Teaching, but found neither suited her, especially as they would mean less time to devote to write.

Not only a novelist, Lily spends her time writing Haiku and Sonnets, none of which she's had the bravery to submit anywhere as of yet.

When not writing, Lily usually has her nose in a book on subjects ranging from Geiko to Veganism, a subject she is devoted to entirely. She has a terrible sense of humour, enjoying tacky comedies, bad horrors and awful tv. She enjoys cute fluffy animals and is hoping to train guide dog puppies if she ever gets out of retail.

Her dream is to write all day, living in a dream world of her characters and only coming out of it to train the guide dog puppies and cook vegan masterpieces (the last part is unlikely though!). As a Vegan, she is active in animal welfare issues and believes all creatures deserve respect, regardless of whether they have two legs, four, wings or gills.

Elora’s parents were never really the parenting type and are rarely home. Elora is old enough to stay alone and isn’t really bothered by this, until she starts feeling like she isn’t quite alone. They will stop at nothing to see them apart and the angels destroyed, including kidnapping angels. Has Elora lost her angel forever? I loved this story and can’t wait to see what happens in book two. Lily puts a new spin on the angel romance genre and brings freshness to it. As much as I hate cliffhangers at the end of a book, that is what keeps the readers interested, wanting more, and coming back to the series. Lily doesn’t disappoint in this area, something bigger and worse is coming in book two. The only thing I did not like was the fact of “satan” portrayed as not the same as the “devil” and not such a bad guy. But that is just because of my religious beliefs, which is the same or close to same as Elora’s best friend’s beliefs.
