A Beautiful Mess by Brenda S. Anderson

Description

Can she love the child who broke up her marriage?

Nearly four years ago, Erin Belden’s happy life became a shattered mess. After her husband admitted to an affair and that a child had been conceived, he left her and their young daughter for his new family. Now, she’s finally ready to put the pieces of her life together. She’s set to launch her own business and even thinks her heart might be open to romance—should the right man come along.

But just when everything seems to be lining up, she receives a devastating call: her ex-husband and his wife have been killed in a car accident, and Erin is listed in their will as their daughter’s legal guardian.

How can she be a mother to the child—let alone love the child—who broke up her marriage? Does she have the courage to start over yet again and turn this mess into a mosaic of beauty?

A single mother’s journey from bitterness to forgiveness.

Review:
Where do I begin with this book? Well it is definitely a beautiful mess and I highly recommend it. I do have to say this book was way harder to read than I anticipated. For most people, it probably isn't but it hit close to home for me and brought up a lot of emotions that I still deal with the same as Erin had to deal with. A single mother raising a teenager(or for me two) who feels abandoned by her father is no easy task. Then for Erin to have to take in the child from her husband's affair after her ex and new wife die is a tremendous burden. And although she silently deals with anxiety and anger, she does take care of this little girl with grace and love.

The Art of Regret Tour and Review

About The Book:
Release Date: 10/22/99
She Writes Press
Trevor McFarquhar lives a controlled, contrary existence. Traumatized by early childhood loss, the silence surrounding those losses, and then a sudden family relocation from the United States to France, he has no ambitions or dreams for his struggling Parisian bicycle shop or even for himself. Now in his late thirties, his romantic relationships are only casual―his friendships, few. He’s both aloof and exacting, holding everyone to his own high standards while being unforgiving of their faults.
But then two things happen. The 1995 transit strike forces Parisians through Trevor’s shop door to procure bicycles, and his once-sluggish business suddenly turns around. To his surprise, he is pleased. At the same time, Trevor enters into a relationship that threatens to destroy his relationship with his entire family. Humbled and ashamed, his veneer cracks, and he emerges from his cocoon a different man, ready to reconnect, to rediscover possibility, and ultimately to redeem himself.
Review:
I didn't know exactly what to expect from this book but it was an interesting and enlightened read. I have to say, at first I didn't much like Trevor, however I think that was the point because he didn't care much about what others thought of him he was emotionally shut off due to childhood trauma that he didn't quite understand. But as death of loved ones changed him as a small child into the withdrawn man he is now, death of loved brings him full circle to finding himself again.

Wrapped Up in Christmas

Book Information:
Title: Wrapped Up In Christmas
Genre: Holiday Romance
Synopsis:
A gift of warmth
to heal two hearts…

Sarah Smith in Pine Hill, Kentucky has had her heart broken in the past. She pours herself into her work at church and into special projects—like making a quilt for a wounded warrior.

Bodie Lewis is lost. All he’s ever wanted was his career as an Army Ranger, but he was injured in an explosion that killed his brothers in arms. In the hospital, he receives a handmade quilt. Later, he sets out on his final mission: to find and thank its maker.

Bodie expected Sarah to be an elderly lady, not a lovely young woman. When she mistakes him for a handyman, he doesn’t immediately set her straight. Instead, he sets about repairing the home she’s turning into a bed and breakfast. Sarah’s presence and the spirit of the small town bring Bodie something he thought he’d left far behind on the battlefield: hope.

This heartwarming sweet romance includes a free quilt pattern from the Quilts of Valor Foundation and a new original Hallmark recipe for Cinnamon Swirl Bread.
Review:
An absolutely beautiful heartfelt story. As a former military spouse and friends and family who have served, this story really touched my heart as Hallmark has a habit of doing with their movies, this book has also! If you enjoy reading stories of romance in odd places and people finding love after being dealt a gard blow in life, you'll love this story!

Genre: YA Fantasy
Editor: Stacy Sanford/ The Girl with the Red Pen
Cover Designer: Melissa Stevens/ The Illustrated Author Design Services
Publication Date: November 1st, 2019
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:  One Prince. One Witch. One Fate.
The upheaval in my life began the moment a prince stumbled into my house and asked me to read his fortune. Any other night, I might have made an excuse to get him to leave, but this was no normal visit. My fingers prickled to touch him. So, I granted his request by handing him a single wishbone. When he snapped it, the wish … bled.
Hearing me suck in a shocked breath, he asked what it meant. Such an ominous omen could only mean one thing: his death was imminent. Fate revealed that he wouldn’t die of natural causes. Someone wanted him dead. Stunned by the revelation, the man I now knew as Prince Tauren disappeared into a night I feared he wouldn’t survive. The following day, I received an invitation to the castle. While it seemed the prince believed I could intervene and uncover who was plotting his death, his motives didn’t stop there. I was being summoned to join twelve other women in vying for the opportunity to be his wife and future queen.
Going could mean jeopardizing my plans to reclaim my heritage and resurrect the House of Fate. But staying would guarantee Tauren’s death, and the blood of his wish would be on my hands.

Author:
Janalyn Voigt
Release Date: December 1, 2019
Genre:
Western/Historical Romance
Can a young widow with no faith in love, hope for a future with the man who broke her heart?

Maisey isn’t about to give Rob another chance to reject her love. Why should she believe that the man who left town without a backward glance three years ago cares about her? Life had taught her all about broken dreams, and she didn’t want to hope again. If only her young daughter would stop adopting Rob as a father, ignoring him—and her own emotions--would be a whole lot easier.

Thoughts of the woman he’d left behind haunted Rob for three long years. It wouldn’t have been fair to ask Maisey to wait while he mined a gold claim. After making his fortune, he’d returned to his family in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley. Rob was ready to settle down, and he’d rather do so with Maisey. But after their first encounter, it was clear that he’d lost her forever.

Circumstances force Maisey and Rob into one another’s company. They learn, through hardship and loss, that the only way to one another is to surrender first to God’s love.

Based on actual historical events during a time of unrest in America, The Forever Sky explores faith, love, and courage in the wild west.

Young Adult Fiction—Fantasy

SYNOPSIS
In the dull, everyday world, seventeen-year-old Rose Evermore struggles to plan beyond her final year of high school. But when fire suddenly obeys her every command and her dreams predict the future, she becomes hungry for more of this strange power.

Under her dreams’ guidance, Rose lands in the fantasy realm of Lotheria–with a tagalong. In Lotheria, Rose is welcomed and celebrated as a fire mage at the Academy, while the very un-magical Tyson is forced into hiding under threat of death from the headmasters of Rose’s new school.

As Rose’s talent in fire magic draws unwanted attention and Tyson struggles to transition from high school student to blacksmith, Rose must find a way to return Tyson to their own world before the headmasters discover and execute him–no matter the cost.
Review: Very intriguing read full of adventure, magic, danger and friendship. The world building is magical and the struggles are real but the world Rose and Tyson find themselves in a fantasy wrought with dangers that could tear them apart.

Forged Through Fire Review

Description:
When Mark McDonough was a teen, a catastrophic fire claimed the lives of his mother and younger brother. It also left Mark with burns on over 65 percent of his body. During a long and painful recovery, his faltering faith in God was strengthened by a remarkable near-death experience. Inspired to pursue a career as a plastic surgeon to help those who suffer as he has, McDonough has overcome numerous other adversities on his journey, including addiction and a stroke. Now he shares his incredible true story of survival and perseverance to bring hope and healing to those dealing with great physical and emotional pain.

Anyone who has suffered or watched a loved one suffer from a personal trauma, disease, or loss that has tested or stolen their faith and exhausted their emotional resources will find real hope in this redemptive story.
Review:
I don't know what I expected going into this story but the emotional rollercoaster took me by surprise. I made it through a few chapters without much emotional response but was surprised when one scene after another brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed the layout of the book, how the author jumped back and forth between past and present with each chapter. I was also surprised to hear he battled a disease that beside's son now battles and it gave me hope. I also found hope in the fact that I could on some level relate to the author and his mental, emotional and spiritual struggles through time of great suffering. I too suffer from chronic illness and depression and anxiety. I'm thankful for the honor of being able to read this story and pray it gives hope to others as it has me.

Curse Day: A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

September 23...First day of Fall also known as Rhen's Birthday 🎂 but it's not a happy day for Rhen. Although it is the day he first meets Harper, it the beginning of another "season" and possibly the last.
It's Curse Day💙💔🤴🥀
If Rhen can't convince Harper to love him then he and his kingdom could be lost forever. A Curse So Dark and Lonely has to be my favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling with a surprise ending you won't see coming! Rhen is strong and courageous even though he fights feelings of regret and failure, he is possible the best king for Emberfall but due to an angry enchantress, Prince Rhen has been cursed to find someone to love him or he turns into a ravishing beast that causes much destruction and devastation to the kingdom. Rhen does the best he can to protect his people and his kingdom but unknown forces are coming against them and he must find a way to not only convince Harper to love him but stop a war. One of my favorite quotes "I do not understand how she can fill me with such hope and fear simultaneously. I pull her hand to my chest and lean in to her, until we share breath. My lips brush across hers.
It is barely a kiss, but she is somehow closer to me, her body a pool of warmth against mine.
I want so desperately to turn it into more, to see where this blossoming attraction will lead.” Shows his desperation yet his tenderness towards Harper. I love seeing Harper come into her strength to overcome her disability and her determination to help Rhen save his Kingdom. Both have emotions and pasts they must deal with and overcome if they're going to find love between them. Can she love a monster, can he let her in, will she run away when she finds out the truth or stand by his side, will her love for her family destroy the chance at love with Rhen? This a beautiful heartbreaking tale of heartbreak and love told in a enchanting narrative set in a fairytale kingdom background. I laughed, cried, cheered, and pleaded for the characters. Yes,I fell in love with them and this enchanting world by @brigidkemmerer I can't recommend this book enough and anxiously awaiting for the continuation in book 2 A Heart so Fierce and Broken!
#CURSEBREAKERS

So I'm totally horrible and have to beg the lovely Brigid Kemmerer for not posting review earlier than today. I really meant to but I met her in November at The Origin Event and she kindly gave me a copy of A Curse So Dark and Lonely since I was a blogger and bookstagramer. However, if you follow me enough you may be aware I've had some health issues around that time that didn't get solved for months and one issue is still plaguing me (MRSA UTI) may end me in the hospital if we can't get it to go away for good 😞 I recently jumped back into A Curse So Dark and Lonely after being privy to A Heart So Fierce and Broken first chapter because after reading that I wasn't ready to leave the #CURSEBREAKERS world and quickly realized I never posted a review. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😞 But here on Curse Day, I have rectified that mistake so I hope you enjoyed the review and join us for the journey of bringing A Heart So Fierce and Broken to the world! Keep your eyes open for more information here and on my bookstagram page @purpleshadowhunter
