~OF GAEA by Victoria Escobar Blog Tour~

Book Info:
Of Gaea
Book #1 in the Of Legacies Series
By Victoria Escobar
Publication Date: March 20, 2013

Blurb: Her choice will change the world. She hated the wheelchair. Hated the way it made her feel less than what she was. Most of all she hated not being able to do all the things she used to. Ari had been a track and field star, an archery champion and an Eskrima pro. Now she was confined to a wheelchair slowly dying inside from its restraints. Medical science wasn’t working. The tests, the drugs, the therapies were all useless and a waste of time. She was tired of wasting her time; she was tired of failure. It was time to look away from the obvious and try something unconventional. Nothing was ever free and that included miracles. Abruptly, Ari finds herself tangled in a web of lies, questioning everything she’s ever known as truth. Never had she believed she’d be thrown headfirst into a world of good and evil, magic and Gods. Trapped in the middle of a war she had never known existed both parties demanded her allegiance. Ari was a catalyst that could change all the rules of the Earth. But when the time comes to make a choice will she be strong enough to know right from wrong?
Excerpt:

“What you want for me and what I want for myself are two different things. I’m not like you, Ghita.” Ari gave her a patient look. “I’m not sure what I am yet, but I know it’s not like you.”

She flinched. “I am your mother in every way but one.”
“Do you really want to have this argument now?” Ari sat back up. “Where were you when I got hit by the car? Where were you every time I went to an Archery tournament? Where were you when I was the track and field star of the school? Where have you been all my life? Would you like me to tell you? You were at church. Or doing something with the church. Or with Lyris. You never once came out to support me. Sasha and Kleisthenes did. And when Nasya started as an exchange student, she did too. Where have you been? You’re not a mother. You never were. You’re a caretaker.” Ari flopped back down and closed her eyes to avoid seeing the hurt in Ghita’s face. Ari was hurt nearly as much. She needed Ghita to be a mother, at any point in her life it would have been welcome, but Ghita, had only cared for her sister and herself.
“I’ll be back in time to make supper.” Ghita said very quietly as her footsteps retreated to the door.
“Don’t bother. Have dinner with the ladies like you’ve always done. I’ll go down to Sasha’s for dinner like I’ve always done.” Ari replied without moving.
The door quietly clicked and a few minutes later Ari heard the car start.
  “That was unkind.”
Ari didn’t even jump at Sasha’s voice. She cracked open an eye and found he was seated at the foot of the bed.
  “You hid under the bed?”
He nodded. “It’s Sunday. She wouldn’t have scooted down to look in those heels.”

I loved this book just as much as and maybe even more than The Earth Painter. The Man Painter jumps ahead two years and is a continuation of Holly and Theo's story. It is a lovely story full of emotion.

~POISON by Bridget Zinn~

Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend. But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses. Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her? Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

I have not yet finished the book but will post a review when I am.This month we are being asked to share this book and it's author.  About Bridget Zinn:

Bridget grew up in Wisconsin. She went to the county fair where she met the love of her life, Barrett Dowell. They got married right before she went in for exploratory surgery which revealed she had colon cancer. They christened that summer the "summer of love" and the two celebrated with several more weddings. Bridget continued to read and write until the day she died. Her last tweet was "Sunshine and a brand new book. Perfect." Bridget wanted to make people laugh and hoped readers would enjoy spending time with the characters she created. As a librarian/writer she loved books with strong young women with aspirations. She also felt teens needed more humorous reads. She really wanted to write a book with pockets of warmth and happiness and hoped that her readers' copies would show the watermarks of many bath time reads.

~Review of THE EARTH PAINTER by Melissa Turner Lee~

I really didn't know what to expect out of this book.I got more than expected.I was a lovely read that really made me think about some issues that teens face.Along with that,it also is a story of love.Underneath that, it is a story intertwined with a world fantasy like no other.
Holly has just moved to Chesnee,SC.Here she meets a few friends, some of those friendships will grow, some will be broken, and some may turn into more.Holly starts out as beaten down,low-self esteem teenager who just wants to blend in to the point of invisibility. However,Anthony,Theo, and Wayne won't let her. They befriend her, which makes things a little easier and a little harder.
Meeting Anthony helps because he makes sure she doesn't eat lunch alone.Holly eventually meets Anthony's mom,who is a key to helping her fight Fritz. His mom also helps her find her a purpose that gives her an idea what she wants to become in the future.
Wayne is a geek who loves role playing and science of all kinds. One of his experiments to try figure out the school's water problem leads to a great discovery. This sends Holly on a mission to save the water well, which infuriates Fritz. Also Wayne makes Holly uncomfortable because he has feeling for her that she does not reciprocate, her feeling are for someone else.
That leads us to Theo, who is an earth painter. He has hung around the high school observing humans for decades out of boredom due to his purpose already being fulfilled. No one ever sees him, which is good because he isn't allowed to draws attention to himself from humans.Except for so unknown reason,Holly sees Theo. They develop a bond that goes beyond friendship but Theo is doesn't feel the way humans do,which leaves them with dilemma.
Oh and I guess you are wondering who Fritz is.Well is was a water painter but he did some questionable things after the Sculptor made humans. He detests humans,so he goes around ricking havoc by whispering negative and evil things into the ears of humans.Going against him could prove to be fatal.
Yes,I know this review kind of long but this is the last tidbit,I promise.I just want say I know Melissa's work has Spiritual undertones so I tried viewing the character this way.I don't know how she intended it,but I viewed The Sculptor and God,Theo and the friends(the sciences and space painter) as Angel, and Fritz as the devil. Of course it is up to you to determine how you view them,my view may be flawed due to the ending.I still trying to figure that one out.Guess it is time to read Book 2.

Review of ROGUE WAVE by Christie Anderson

Book 2 - Rogue Wave
After five months of blissful pretending, Sadie and Rayne are practically the couple of the year. At least, according to Sadie’s friends at school they are. But she knows the truth. Their feelings are just an illusion. Now, with graduation and college right around the corner, Sadie realizes she can’t put off the inevitable any longer. She has to make a choice. Take the easy way out and run away from her problems, as usual, or move forward with courage and discover her own destiny. But when Ash Hastings, the son of the black-eyed man who almost drove Sadie to her death last November and Rayne’s supposed best friend, makes an unnerving appearance in Sadie’s life again, the path to her future takes an unexpected turn. And this time, Sadie’s life isn’t the only one in danger.

  Review:
Author Christie Anderson did an awesome job of slipping in back story details so well that I didn't even realize that I was reading Book 2 without reading Book 1,which I didn't do on purpose. There is never a dull moment in Sadie and Rayne's story.I really enjoyed this read and can't wait for the next book to see what happens next. At the beginning I felt bad for Ash. I thought he was a good guy and then he starts to prove me wrong.Although he is torn due to circumstances beyond his control and all he really wants is to be good enough for his father, his actions are do not come with well intentions. I love Rayne and Sadie but at some points I wanted just scream at them to just be honest about their feelings.Besides that Rayne and Sadie are very likable characters.Sadie seems to be a weak girl in need of constant saving but in the end she finds her inner strength. Rayne maybe strong and but he also has a sensitive side which bring depth to his character. Rayne and Sadie try to get back to a "normal" life after a very traumatic incident that leaves Sadie a little shaken. But Sadie is strong and is determined to move on from that nightmare like it never happened. The only problem is that other people have plans that may keep that from happening. And this time it may not just be her life on the line but her mother's too. Ash lost his mother and now he may have lost his father.Ash can't deal with the pain so he will do anything to make his father proud of him, even if it means to continued the life of crime his father has started.Ash has his own reasons for wanting Sadie and Rayne to suffer but is he willing to go as far as his father expects him to go?Is the revenge and acceptance worth the price he may have to pay to get it? While Ash is finding ways to torment them,Rayne and Sadie must come to terms with their feelings for each other and decide if they want to act on them.According to the Keeper Code,Rayne isn't allowed to have a relationship with Sadie. But Rayne has given up everything to keep her alive,so can he love her from a distance or risk losing his status and going rogue for love? Sadie don't trust guys and has never been able to have a deep relationship in fear of being abandoned. She was abandon by her father before she was born and is convinced all guys are the same.Does she really believe after everything they have been through, that Rayne would ever abandon her?

Synopsis: Book 1 - Deep Blue Secret

Each time the boy appears, Sadie's unexplainable attraction to him deepens along with her need to unravel his secrets. Book Description:
When Talia Lyons was just a child, her parents were murdered before her eyes. Offered a choice between accepting their fate and exacting revenge, Talia trains to become one of the country’s deadliest assassins in order to kill the man responsible for their deaths: Ian Crane. Luckily, Talia was born with a gift- the ability to read and influence the minds of others. At sixteen, Talia is poised to graduate from the McDonough School for the Talented, where she learned to control her abilities. Now there is only one obstacle standing between her and the retribution she craves... Talia herself. Her greatest asset may also be her undoing; while a formidable weapon in the field, Talia’s talents prevent her from both shutting off the mental connection she shares with her questionable boyfriend and blocking out the thoughts of a beguiling fellow recruit. But Talia can’t afford to have the feelings and distractions of a normal teenage girl, when her life is far from normal. She must regain the single-minded determination that has brought her this far, or it may cost Talia her life when she finally faces Crane. And even after being molded in to a weapon of war, she’ll still have to find the strength it takes to pull the trigger. If James Bond and Sookie Stackhouse had a love child with a yearning for vengeance, her story would be TALENTED: an adventure about powerful teenagers who aren’t afraid to embrace their fears and fight for what they believe in.

~Caravan Blog Tour for SO SHINES THE NIGHT by Tracy L Higley~

Q&A with Tracy

1.You have gone on so many amazing travels. What was one of your favorite things about visiting Ephesus?
I think it was the sense of being somewhere “where Paul walked.” Sitting in the theater, looking down over the Harbor Street where he was likely kept prisoner at times, I had this amazing moment of “I can’t believe I’m here” – the kind of moment that gives you chills and makes you feel connected to something larger than yourself.
2.For you, what is the hardest part of the writing process?
The actual rough draft, the first time I get the words out of my head, is the hardest part. I have to discipline myself to stop the research, stop the planning and plotting, and just start writing!
3.What inspired the theme of So Shines the Night?
The idea of community is dear to my heart, and the struggle we all have to not live in isolation. I wanted to take a look at two people struggling to do the right thing, but going about it the wrong way because they were isolated both from other people and from God, and to see what would happen when they brushed up against a community like the first century church.

Tracy L. Higley started her first novel at the age of eight and has been hooked on writing ever since. She has authored nine novels, including Garden of Madness and Isle of Shadows. Tracy is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Ancient History and has traveled through Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Italy, researching her novels and falling into adventures. See her travel journals and more at TracyHigley.com

~Thoughtful Thursday~

So I have seem many blogs have themes for certain days. I decided to try  my hand at this. I have participated in Teaser Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday a few times.Today is Thursday and I need a theme so I am going to go with Thoughtful Thursday. This is where I share a thought running threw my mind today, whether it be a quote, rant,or idea.

“You are, after all, what you think. Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

This quote gives you a glimpse into my thought life. I am a very emotional person and though I am trying to not let my emotions control me,it is a hard task to accomplish. I have been taught that although my emotions are real they are not always true. For example,I may feel sad or lonely because I think  someone is mad at me or doesn't like me, no one loves me;though my feels are real my perception may  be wrong. Actually it is something that I deal with often.

Feel free to comment about you take on the quote or my thoughts on it.

About the Author:

Robert is a fan of all things relating to vampires. It’s this obsession with vampires that makes his debut, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon”, the perfect vehicle to launch his writing career. Robert was born and raised in Northeast Ohio at a time when late night television stations filled their programming with old horror movies. Robert gravitated towards the motion picture vampire, but also the vampires depicted in the writings of Stephen King, F. Paul Wilson, and Robert McCammon.
Robert worked at JC Penney’s, where he spent 10 years in the Visual Display Department. His love of vampires, and a decade in the retail/fashion industry, provided the inspiration to create his own vampire tale. After several years of writing and re-writing, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon” was born.
When Robert isn’t writing, he enjoys going to the movies, or listening to his extensive music collection. Robert is a huge sports fan, but prefers football and baseball to all other sports. One of his favorite pastimes is participating as team owner and Commissioner of a long running fantasy football league. Robert manages to travel to the beaches of South Carolina at least once a year to recharge and enjoy some ocean time. Robert is married to his best friend and soulmate, Jackie. They have a son, Dustin, and two rambunctious cats, Meeps and Benny.

~EMBLAZE By Jessica Shirvington Blog Tour~

Sourcebooks Fire

ISBN: 978-1-4022-6846-5
Harcover/$16.99
Ages 13+

Violet Eden has accepted that she’s part angel, part human—but nothing prepares her to be handed the key to the gates of Hell. Or worse, to be forced to turn the key over to the dark exile who saved and betrayed her: Phoenix.

Violet and her partner, Lincoln, will have to stop Phoenix, but it’s hard enough fighting their soul-crushing need to be together. Violet begins to fear that the pull will soon become unbearable. As a brutal battle looms, Violet finds herself in dire straits as she teeters on the edge of a decision that could unleash a terror of horrifying repercussions.

REVIEW:
I have to say this one of my favorite love triangles. As much as would like to hate Phoenix, he keeps doing stuff to make me want to like him. He is so infuriating! I can see why Violet has such a hard time not wanting him. At the same time, Violet and Lincoln’s relationship is frustrating. I so want them to be together and when I actually think they will be, something else happens to make them reign in their feelings and throw up barriers to keep each other out.
EMBLAZE was more emotional than the Embrace or Entice. My heart ached with Violet’s. It drew me in so much that I felt everything she was feeling. Vi and Linc are fighting hard to keep each other out after seeing what happened to Rudy and Nyla. How long can they deny the truth that they are destined to be soul mates? Will this draw a wedge between them that is too big to overcome?
Phoenix has gotten the Grigori Scripture, but the Grigori now hold the Exile Scripture. While the exiles having the Grigori Scripture could be tragic, the Exile Scripture could be more devastating in their hands. Phoenix is now convinced that using the Exile Scripture to bring his mother, Lilith, back is more rewarding than killing off all Grigori who have yet to come of age or awareness of who they really are. Now all defenses are up and both sides are plotting for control of both Scriptures. Steph gets caught in the middle of a strategic plan to gain possession of both Scriptures goesone wrong. Phoenix is all too aware of where to hit Violet the hardest to get what he wants. And keeping Violet’s dad out of the loop is becoming increasingly harder. The battle takes them out of the country again, but this time there is no welcoming Grigori party to help. They must go to no-man’s land to stop the prophecy in the Exile Scripture from coming to past. Violet must make a choice and either way she decides could have devastating consequences. Can they decipher the Exile Scripture in time to stop Phoenix? Will Violet’s choice be their demise?
